Additionally, each lesson has interactive questions throughout the lesson that check for your child’s understanding of the material presented. The interactive questions also contain audio. Each question and subsequent answer choices are read aloud which is extremely helpful for auditory learners and for younger children who are early readers.
A wonderful feature of the Interactive Q&A within the video lessons are video explanations that reinforce concepts covered in the questions if your child chooses an incorrect answer. This feature removes the heavy lifting of parents having to worry about re-teaching lesson material. A child receives additional instruction in parts of the lesson that may not have been as clear to them initially.
Worksheets, Textbooks, Workbooks, and Ebooks
Another feature that I love about A+ interactive is that the lesson worksheets are available online or can be purchased as a hard copy workbook. This is an important option. While some children can easily do math practice solely using the computer or viewing math problems on the screen and using pen and paper to work the problem, others work better with a hard copy workbook. The hard copy workbooks come with solution guides, however one advantage to the online worksheets is that your child’s answers are automatically scored. The fact that A+ provides both online math practice and workbooks for math practice gives children options that best fit their unique needs.
For younger students, parents may need to temporarily help them learn how to navigate through the online curriculum. A+ does offer a free tutorial prior to beginning the curriculum. While the buttons to continue to the next questions move and are highlighted to prompt a child on to the next question, a parent may need to temporarily assist when navigating between activities (i.e. lesson, worksheets, and exam tabs). Additionally, younger children may need assistance when finalizing their worksheet and exam submissions.
Assessment
This wonderful online program has multiple ways to assess your child’s mastery of math concepts via the interactive questions throughout the video lessons, online worksheets, and exams. All scores from these multiple assessment tools are recorded and given to parents in a detailed progress report that enables them to evaluate their child’s progress and mastery. This gives parents a peace of mind that they can rely on.
